Nuisance concerns:

Birds can be among the worst of nuisance pests for commercial property owners and home owners also. They roost on signs or rafters of commercial buildings. They make a horrible mess with their nesting material, and droppings. Pigeon droppings in particular can really accumulate, and are not only unsightly, but a health risk to your employees or customers.

Pigeons have adapted well to urban environments. Humans mean food, and they are unafraid of people. They also leave droppings everywhere along with nesting material. The nesting material can cause potential fire hazards. The droppings can contaminate food destined for human consumption. They can carry or transmit: pigeon ornithosis, encephalitis, Newcastle disease, histoplasmosis, cryptococcosis, toxoplasmosis, pseudo-tuberculosis, pigeon coccidiosis and salmonella food poisoning. Pigeon also carry parasites, bugs, fleas, ticks and mites. Muskogee Ducks are some of the ugliest ducks God made. They are all over the state of Florida and make a mess and can become aggressive. Chimney Swifts are a protected bird in Florida and must be treated as such. When these birds nest, they nest on the chimney wall. Hatchlings sound like a rattlesnake when they become startled or the parent comes to feed them.

Control:

Some people have tried the fake plastic owls or plastic hawks to get rid of pigeons, but that doesn't work. They may even try ultrasonic sound emitters. The most effective way is is with trapping and removal of the animals.
